The transitive verb löschen is weak, unlike the strong intransitive erlöschen ‎(“to go out; expire”). Strong present forms du lischst, er lischt may occasionally be seen in the transitive verb, chiefly due to hypercorrection. The past forms of the transitive verb are virtually always weak.
